What is Forensic Nursing?
Forensic nursing is a specialized practice that combines clinical expertise with legal advocacy. A forensic nursing expert works sensitively with cases that involve violence, abuse, and other physically violent crimes in order to illuminate science-based evidence. They play a vital role in the legal system by properly collecting and documenting medical-legal evidence.
Throughout a credentialed program, forensic nurses gain specialized skills like performing medical-legal exams and evaluations, understanding evidentiary procedures, and providing expert witness testimony. Most importantly, they learn to navigate these complex processes with utmost care, respect and compassion for those in vulnerable situations.
